Hearts v Kilmarnock Betting Tips And Predictions
Date: 27th December 2016
Ian Cathro’s baptism of fire continues as Hearts fans begin to appreciate the job that Robbie Neilson did at Tynecastle.
Since it was announced that the former Jambos defender would be leaving for MK Dons, the team haven’t won in four matches. Cathro has been at the helm for three of those in his first role as a number one. He called on his team to ‘grow up’ having squandered a 2-0 lead at Dens Park to lose 3-2 on Friday.
The Tynecastle side has shipped eight goals in those four matches, picking up just two points in the process. They have lost ground on both Rangers and Aberdeen above them, and are in danger of being overtaken by St. Johnstone.
Cathro’s appointment by Hearts was seen as bold and forward thinking. Unfortunately the team has stumbled and is going backwards currently. This was perhaps to be expected however. Hearts had a level of consistency and performance that was always likely to be interrupted by the upheaval of change.
The signs are that Cathro will come good and a distinctive style of play is emerging. It will take some time however, and remember that Hearts are a club still relatively early on in a rebuilding process. It’s easy to forget that at times as their progress has been so sharp.
Killie are the visitors to Tynecastle today. Lee Clark’s side didn’t last long in the top six and are currently eighth. The Geordie has done a good job of giving the side a major overhaul and gelling the new group together. I still expect them to be fighting for their lives as the season progresses however.
Cathro and Hearts need to put on a display for the home fans, and more importantly start picking up points again. A win for Killie could elevate them back to the top six.
HEARTS V KILMARNOCK BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS BEST BETTING ODDS
Both teams to score is 1.83 (5/6) with 188Bet and looks more likely than BTTS No at 2.10 (11/10) with McBookie.
Over 2.5 goals is therefore likely to come into play, but at 1.70 (7/10) with Marathon Bet it’s too short for me. Any slight value is on under 2.5 at 2.29 (129/100) with the same firm, but is difficult to place any confidence in.
A slight variation on the theme provides odds against. Backing Kilmarnock to score exactly 1 goal is 2.50 (6/4) with Coral and is where my money will be going.
To put that into context, a Hearts win & Over 2.5 goals is just 2.20 (6/5). Absolutely no value there after no wins in four. A Hearts win & BTTS is more tempting at 3.10 (21/10). I have some difficulty in getting behind that as well however due to Hearts’ recent form. So it’s Killie to score exactly one for me, and it remains to be seen if Cathro can get that elusive first win.
Hearts have kept four clean sheets from their nine matches at Tynecastle.
The Jambos have conceded 8 in their last four matches.
Killie have scored exactly once in five of their nine away league matches this season.
They have only failed to score in three of their away matches.
Head To Head Stats
