Hearts v Inverness is a Scottish Premiership bottom of the table clash.
Not many would have predicted that but to be fair it is only two games in. I have been consistent in voicing my concern over Hearts’ potential this season. But they have had the toughest of starts.
Celtic at home came first, followed by Aberdeen away. First and second in last season’s table. To their credit they came out of it with a point. It was their European performances that has left many wondering about their future.
Although they are up against a side this weekend with much bigger troubles. Inverness are rock bottom and they may struggle to get off it. They are the only side yet to pick up a point in the first two games.
Furthermore their troubles were amplified by the long term injury to Kevin McNaughton. He was the marquee signing so far. His experience was supposed to shore up a defence that looks rocky at best. But they will have to figure without him for the rest of the season.
Eyebrows were raised when Richie Foran was appointed manager in the summer. A couple of big wins in the League Cup looked to have papered over the cracks. But five goals conceded in two league games has seen the fissures reopen.
For a team low on confidence with a rookie manager there aren’t many worse places to go than Tynecastle. Hearts are a strong, uncompromising side and the tight ground can really get on top of you.
A big and boisterous crowd should see Hearts pick up their first win of this season’s campaign.
