William Hill Scottish Cup 5th Round

Hearts v Hibs in the Scottish Cup 5th round is as tantalising a game as we’re going to see this season.
Not just because it’s an Edinburgh derby and not just because it was an unexpected bonus. It’s the trajectory of both sides that makes this such an exciting prospect.
The Jambos are flying high in the Premiership and have genuine designs on winning this trophy having knocked out Aberdeen in the last round. They have had a robust transfer window where they have made a chunk of money and signed the targets they were after.
Hibs are flying high in the Championship and qualified for the league cup final at the weekend. Alan Stubbs has often remarked on the potential of his side to do the treble. Sometimes, he even sounds serious.
The fates of most of the big city clubs in Scotland have taken a turn for the better with Hearts and Hibs at the head of the charge. It’s not often you can look to the Scottish football fixtures and say a game that doesn’t involve Celtic or Rangers is the most eagerly anticipated. This weekend, that is definitely the case.
Home advantage does give Hearts the advantage in this contest but The Hibees shouldn’t be discounted. They have beaten St Johnstone, Dundee Utd and Aberdeen in cup competitions this season already and in Anthony Stokes they have one of the best strikers in the country.
Hearts leading goalscorer, Osman Sow, is apparently available despite being involved in a £1.5 million transfer to China. Availability is one thing but I would be surprised to see him starting with such a big transfer fee on the line. Juanma is likely to get a starting berth with new signing Abiola Dauda waiting in the wings.
Hearts v Hibernian Betting Preview Betting Odds
Having opened at odds on Hearts have drifted to a high of 2.2 (6/5) with Betfair which is much more reasonable. Hibs have shortened from 3/1 to a best 3.75 (11/4) with William Hill while the draw is available at 3.7 (27/10) with McBookie.
If you must have a bet on this game goals could be the place to go although the prices are shorter than I would like. Both teams to score is a best 1.7 (7/10) with bet365 and Ladbrokes and to be fair it does look to have an excellent chance. For there to be +2.5 total goals is a best 1.8 (4/5) with bet365 and Boylesports.
Personally I am going to leave this game alone and enjoy the spectacle but if you want to play a draw wouldn’t surprise me and a score draw isn’t out of the question. You can back 1-1 on the correct score markets at 7.5 (13/2) with McBookie and William Hill or 2-2 for a small stake at 15/1 with McBookie.
