Hearts look to have found their form with two wins on the spin.
They mauled Inverness 5-1 the last time they played at home. A creditable 1-2 victory over Partick Thistle followed. It did take a very late winner, though, as Thistle’s poor luck continued.
Hamilton Accies can also claim to have suffered some misfortune. But that hasn’t stopped them picking up five points in their first four games. But for that misfortune you could add at least two more points to their total. In fact, with a little more luck they could conceivably be sitting top of the league.
They have made three excellent signings in the close season. Giorgos Sarris and Massimo Donati have brought quality and experience to the outfield. Meanwhile Remi Matthews has so far proved to be an excellent addition in the goals.
Although Matthews has picked up an injury. Even worse than that, so has their reserve goalkeeper, Garry Woods. The player to start in goals for Hamilton is a bit of an unknown. But the chances are it will be a youngster.
A game against Hearts at Tynie isn’t the best place for a young keeper to make their debut. He will be under pressure. The Hearts crowd won’t give him any leeway. As if the head to head stats didn’t make for depressing enough reading already.
Hamilton haven’t won here for a gazillion years (or since 1977 to be exact). In fact, they have lost every game here going back as far as any records I can see. They have scored just once going all the way back to 2008. Hearts have also won the three most recent encounters by a 2-0 scoreline. Thats a result I wouldn’t discount this time around.
