Elgin City v Clyde Betting Preview
Ladbrokes Scottish League 1 Playoff Semi Final 2nd Leg
Location: Borough Briggs
Date: 7th May 2016
Elgin City will be disappointed to be two goals adrift of Clyde heading into this second leg.
The stats certainly suggest that they had as much of the game in the first leg and it may just be that travelling demands cost them. It’s a long way from Elgin to Cumbernauld (172 miles) and it’s just as long heading in the other direction.
The extra benefit Clyde have in this game is with it being on a Saturday afternoon. Elgin’s players will have had to at least do some of their daily work before hitting the road last Tuesday. That’s an arduous task, doing your work, before three and a half hours on the road and then a tough game against one of the best sides in the division.
They will be better prepared this time around which leads me to think if there is one side capable of turning around the first leg deficit in the SPFL playoffs it might just be Elgin City.
Their home form is as good as any in Scotland with just two defeats here all season. One of those came in the Scottish Cup, a 1-2 loss to Raith Rovers who will take their own lead into the second leg against Hibs.
The head to head stats show that Clyde have a terrible record here with their last win all of ten games ago. This season they have picked up one point in two league matches at Borough Briggs. They will need to improve on that if things aren’t to get very nervy very quickly.
