Dundalk Goal Is One To Remember

A Dundalk goal from last night’s FAI Cup tie against Sligo Rovers has got tongues wagging across the football world.

Ciaran Kilduff actually back heels into the net from 18 yards

Ciran Kilduff did a Zlatan and back-heeled a screamer into the roof of the net from a full 18 yards.

The goal has resulted in some fans calling for him to be nominated for the Puskas Award.

The Puskas award is for the “most beautiful goal” of the year and can be won by anyone at any level. Another Irish contender, Stephanie Roche, was nominated last year although it was finally won by James Rodriguez.

With the score in the FAI Cup tie in the balance as Dundalk led 1-0 Kilduff did just enough to evade his marker as a crossed free kick was skelped into the net off his heel.

It truly is a remarkable Dundalk goal and the fans who braved the wintry conditions will be glad they made the effort.

A Dundalk goal of note has become an annual event after last season’s world renowned 36 passes Dundalk goal versus Saint Patricks Atheltic.

While that was a wondrous team effort this individual Dundalk goal by Ciaran Kilduff is equally deserving of the plaudits it is bound to receive.
