Celtic v Ross County Betting Preview
Location: Celtic Park
Date: 13th February 2016
It’s hard to know what to make of the goings on at Celtic right now.
I had been a backer of Ronny Deila while not going so far as to say I was on the bus, but I thought he had been doing a decent job while getting a little unlucky along the way. The stats were in his favour but the Celtic fans claimed to be seeing something different.
After the last three matches it is probably time I held my hands up and admitted I may have been calling it wrong all along. Losing a cup semi-final having been reduced to ten men is no bad thing, in isolation. Losing an away game to Aberdeen is no arbiter of disaster, in isolation, and beating non-league East Kilbride by a mere two goals is hardly seismically disastrous, in isolation.
For all three to come one on top of the other when the pressure was already on does infer that something is amiss at Celtic Park but it is the performance levels that are the most clear indicator of trouble. All three performances were insipid and it seems clear, now, that this Celtic side does not react well to adversity.
Many reasons why have been mooted with the fingers being pointed at the players, the board and the management team. One thing is certainly clear though, Celtic currently lack the confidence and courage of conviction that should come with being the overwhelmingly best side in the country.
Ross County are coming to Celtic Park in a great vein of form, notwithstanding Tuesday night’s defeat to Hearts. It should come as no surprise really as they are a well funded team. Roy Macgregor has put plenty of money on the line and his latest acquisition, David Goodwillie, is unlikely to come cheap.
The Staggies have often made life difficult for Celtic having avoided defeat in three of their last seven head-to-heads. The Hoops have covered a handicap at Celtic Park on just two of the last five meetings there so handicap backers should take great caution with this one.
Celtic v Ross County Betting Preview Betting Odds
Celtic are priced at a high of 1.29 (2/7) with Coral and William Hill and could be the bane of acca fillers everywhere. Ross County are 12/1 with bet365 while the draw is available at 6.5 (11/2) with McBookie.
Goals are usually in order with Ross County and many will fancy a both teams to score price of 2.0 (evens) with bet365, Boylesports, Coral and Betfair. At least three goals in the game pays out at 1.5 (1/2) with Boylesports, Coral, Betfair and Ladbrokes.
Backing Celtic on the handicaps looks very risky here so I am more inclined to include Ross County +2.5 Asian Handicap as part of the Even Money Double selection from the Scottish Football Accumulator Tips page. So long as they don’t lose by more than two goals the selection comes through as a winner.
