Celtic appear to be in a much better place than Rangers right now.
The Gers had as easy a start as they could have hoped for in terms of their league matches. Despite that they still trail Celtic by a point. And The Hoops have a game in hand.
While Rangers struggled to overcome Kilmarnock and Hamilton Celtic have been banging in the goals. Ten goals in three league games and eighteen in their last five competitive matches. Beating Aberdeen 4-1 last time out has set down a real marker to the rest of the league.
The Brendan Rodgers effect has seen a resurgence in some of the personnel who disappointed so often last season. Scott Brown and James Forrest being the two most notable improvements. Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney have started where they left off, too.
Scott Sinclair has added something special to the team. He continuously looks a snip despite costing a few million pounds. In defence Kolo Toure has brought the experience and leadership they badly needed.
Meanwhile the Rangers defence continues to look shaky. Phillipe Senderos has joined after a protracted transfer. He hasn’t played competitively since May so may not get the nod for this weekend.
Rangers have plenty going forward to trouble Celtic. But they haven’t quite hit the mark so far. The injury to Waghorn has certainly stalled their progression and he is also unlikely to be available for Saturday. In midfield Krancjar looks unfit and Barton has been disappointing.
It all points to a win for Celtic. How comfortable that win could turn out to be remains to be seen. It would be foolish to consider backing Rangers for this one. The only thing they have on their side is hope. But in football hope is a powerful force.
Celtic v Rangers Betting Tips And Predictions – Best Betting Odds
Celtic are strong favourites and shortening at a best price of 1.65 (13/20) with Marathon Bet. Rangers are available at 5.5 (9/2) with bet365 and others. McBookie are best price for a draw at 4.33 (100/30).
Celtic -1 Asian Handicap is 2.07 (15/14) with McBookie and can be considered although there was more value available earlier in the week. Although I do expect Celtic to win this game and that bet gives stake back insurance should they win by a single goal.
Goals do look likely in this game. Both teams to score is 1.77 (10/13) with 888Sport. You will get 1.75 (3/4) from Marathon Bet for +2.5 goals and that may be a better option. A 3-0 home win is not out of the question.
