Celtic v Kilmarnock Betting Tips And Predictions
Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership
Location: Celtic Park
Date: 24th September 2016
Isn’t it amazing what a heavy European loss can do to a team?
Celtic were imperious domestically before Barcelona brought them back down to earth. Since then they have struggled to see off Alloa and dropped points in Inverness.
They should have won both games comfortably going on chances created. There were more than thirty chances spurned in those matches. But it looks like their confidence has taken a real knock after Messi et al taught them a lesson.
You could put it all down to bad luck or excellent goalkeeping. Although the returning Leigh Griffiths will have fancied his chances of sticking a few of the missed opportunities away. He is likely to play some part on Saturday and may instil a renewed sense of belief in his teammates. But with Man City on the horizon there is plenty to take their eye off the ball, too.
There is also uncertainty in the goalkeeping department. Craig Gordon may have fluffed his chance to win back the number one jersey against Alloa. Dorus De Vries will step back in even though he hasn’t filled many Celtic fans with confidence.
Kilmarnock will came here with renewed confidence of their own. Lee Clarke has guided the Ayrshire side to six points from their last five matches. They are unbeaten in three and they will take heart from an excellent first half showing against Rangers last month.
For many, if not all, of Killie’s young imports this will be the biggest game of their careers to date. Whether they sink or swim remains to be seen but it would take a monumental effort and a great deal of luck to take anything away from Celtic Park.
But on current form it’s hard to place faith on Celtic with a handicap. Based on the prices it would be outright lunacy.
