Celtic v Kilmarnock Betting Preview
Location: Celtic Park
Date: 21st November 2015.
Scott Brown could return for The Hoops on Saturday but with Ajax on the horizon there could be bigger fish to fry.
The difference in Celtic’s domestic and European form couldn’t be more stark if it was emblazoned on Iron Man’s chest.
The defeat away to Aberdeen in September remains their only defeat of the season. Saturday’s visitors are one of only three teams to take points off them in fourteen games.
Killie will take heart from that result and their subsequent away form. They have lost just three of their seven away games and all but the 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen by a single goal.
Gary Locke’s side will need to take heart from somewhere. That 2-2 draw was the first time they had got to within a goal of Celtic in eight attempts.
There is nothing more than a Celtic win on the cards for this game but whether it will be as dominant as the betting odds suggest is questionable.
The Tic have conceded in eight of their fourteen Premiership games this season. Killie are capable of scoring having scored in all but one of their last eight games and of course grabbing two against Celtic the last time they met.
That would leave Celtic having to score four to cover a -2 handicap and that’s debatable enough for me not to bother with it.
Celtic v Kilmarnock Betting Preview Betting Odds
Celtic are very short here at a best 1.14(7/50) with Coral. That’s too short to entertain for acca material.
Regular readers will know that I often insist on the merits of backing Celtic -2 Asian Handicap at home when the price veers towards even money.
On this occasions the best price available is 1.43(4/9) with bet365 and that is far too short to consider. There is nothing about Celtic’s handicaps that is tempting.
On the flip side it offers a little opportunity by giving Kilmarnock a handicap advantage. McBookie have priced them up +3 Asian Handicap at 1.75(3/4). That means the bet won’t lose so long as they lose by three goals or less.
Celtic would need to win by four clear goals and as good as they have been that seems unlikely. If they win by three the stake returns so for the bet to win Killie need to be within two goals of the champions.
