Hearts can still have a major say over the title race starting with the trip to Celtic on Saturday.
This will be the first of two games against the champions still to come and they also have two to play against Aberdeen. Robbie Neilson still believes they can catch The Dons and is targeting a win at Celtic Park.
They certainly shouldn’t be discounted as they have avoided defeat in the two league head to head matches so far. A 0-0 draw the last time the sides met here was matched with a 2-2 draw in Tynecastle.
They have the perfect setup for a smash and grab raid on The Hoops. They are a strong uncompromising side and organised enough to sit very deep and make things uncomfortable for the hosts.
The mood at Celtic Park can turn sour at the drop of a hat, too. The last league game played here saw the team booed off at half-time despite the score being 0-0. The longer Hearts can frustrate Celtic the more difficult the game becomes for the home side.
That’s exactly what you should expect Hearts to do here. There are likely to sit in and make few forays forward in the early stages. If they can keep Celtic at bay for long enough they will then look to exploit the increased desperation in the Celtic ranks late in the game.
If Celtic do score early then the game plan will essentially be in tatters and it could be a different situation.
Celtic v Hearts Betting Preview Betting Odds
Celtic are best priced with Coral at 1.3 (3/10) to win the game and that wouldn’t entice me to consider them for much. Hearts are a high of 11/1 with Ladbrokes and Betfair while the draw is available at a best 6.5 (11/2) with bet365.
Both teams to score backers might be tempted by the odds against price of 2.08 (27/25) from Marathon Bet but if my inclinations are correct it seems unlikely. The unders markets could prove to be the best way to go with under 2.5 goals available at 2.54 (20/13) with Marathon Bet.
Under 3.5 goals could have an excellent chance at 1.6 (3/5) with Coral and could make for excellent acca fodder.
