Celtic v Fenerbahce betting preview
Location: Celtic Park.
Date: 1st October 2015.
This Celtic v Fenerbahce betting preview might have had a slightly different slant a few weeks ago. Since then Fenerbahce lost at home to Molde in the Europa League Group A opening game.
That was quite the turn up for the books, more so than the the weekend’s defeat by the odd goal in five away to Besiktas. Being dumped from the UCL by Shaktar Donetsk is no disgrace either so joint top of the Super Toto Super League after 8 games is just fine.
The Daily Record are reporting bust ups between star striker Robin Van Persie and the coaching staff but Celtic fans would do well to take little notice of that.
Questioning the Dutchmans’ attitude is one thing but even amidst this “bust up” he has still proven his ability to score goals. He has scored twice as a 2nd half substitute in their last two games.
Besides, it’s not all about Van Persie. There are other players like Czech left back Micael Kadlec. There’s the Portugese contingent Bruno Alves, Raul Meireles and Nani.
Then there are the big money signings, the Brazilian Souza, who they paid €8m for and the Dane Simon Kjaer, who cost €7.7m. Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic is on loan to them until the end of the season.
So focusing on an ageing striker who may or not start on Thursday night would be a great folly for Celtic. Although taking your eye off of him would be just as dangerous.
Given the quality at their disposal Celtic being quoted as favourites at a price as low as 2.4(7/5) with Ladbrokes seems amiss to me.

The market to be on here looks likely to be goals. The Turks have seen +2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches and their opponents have scored in 4 of their last 5 games. Lowly Molde are just one of 3 sides that have scored 3 times agains them already this season.
Of course they have plenty of goals about them too having failed to score in just two games this season. Both of those games were in the UEFA Champions League against Shaktar Donetsk.
We of course know that Celtic have plenty of goals about them too with 8 of their 17 games this season seeing at least 4 goals. In the Europa League that stat stands up in 4 of their last 5 games, too.
You can back +2.5 match goals at 1.95(19/20) with William Hill and that looks like a price likely to fall come Thursday. If you’re braver you can plump for +3.5 goals at 3.5(5/2) with William Hill and Skybet.
On the goalscorer front my two favourite selections have been priced up very juicily for this tie.
Nir Bitton, who has five goals this season (not including a perfectly good disallowed goal in Malmo) is 11/1 to score anytime with bet365. Dedryck Boyata who has admittedly lost his goalscoring touch is 16/1 with William Hill.
