Celtic ploughed on through on Tuesday night with a 1-0 home win over Hamilton.
Unfortunately the metaphor is apt. It was far from a convincing performance by the Champions who had to dig out a victory while appearing sluggish and disjointed. Although credit must go to Accies who put in a big shift to stifle them.
It’s a sign of Celtic’s progression that a 1-0 home win is met with groans of discontent (from me mostly). But eighteen wins from nineteen domestic matches means they have set their own bar high. Particularly with talk of trebles and going the season unbeaten permeating through Scottish football.
If they are to achieve either of those they will need to set the bar higher still. They will also need to see some of their energetic stars return from injury.
Brendan Rodgers bemoaned the lack of “dynamism” in the team due to the absence of Sinclair and Forrest in particular. When you consider that those two players have scored sixteen goals between them you can understand his point.
He replaced them with a two pronged attack of Dembele and Griffiths. It worked so far as the goal was scored by Griffiths via Dembeles assist. But their influence was keenly missed regardless. It will remain missed for a while longer, too.
The others will need to step back up to the mark against a Dundee side who have improved. Reverting to a defensive 5-3-2 formation has seen them pick up ten points in their last six matches. That’s almost twice as many as they picked up in their first eleven games.
Although it will be a backs to the wall job for The Dee. Failure to score in most of their away games this season suggests another clean sheet for Celtic is on the cards.

The handicaps also have little appeal with Celtic -2 Asian Handicap no better than 1.55 (11/20) with bet365.
The focus here should be on Celtic to keep a clean sheet. Marathon Bet offer 1.8 (4/5) on Dundee to score under 0.5 team goals. That is better than Both teams to score NO at 1.75 (3/4) and the same as Celtic to Win To Nil also at 1.8 (4/5).
Goals backers should baulk at the 1.91 (10/11) price from Marathon Bet for +3.5 goals.
Celtic have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 domestic matches.
Dundee have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 games.
