Location: Celtic Park
Date: 27th August 2016
Celtic will have a European hangover after their exertions in Israel.
Whether the hangover is fierce enough to give Aberdeen hope is another question entirely. The Dons have struggled for goals this season and their record at Celtic Park is abysmal.
They have lost all but one of their last sixteen visits here. The exception was a 1-2 win in the Scottish Cup. All in all it makes it one win and six defeats in Derek McInnes time as Aberdeen manager.
The Dons scored two goals last week but they relied on a free kick and a mistake to get them. It still doesn’t bode too well for them. Particularly as there is a feel good factor around Celtic Park at the moment.
Tuesday’s Champions League performance may not have been one of their best but they came out the other end of it. The prospect of the group stages, the money that comes with it and the competition for places will keep them riding high.
Celtic Park may be about to become a fortress again. Motherwell and Hapoel Beer Sheva found that out to their cost. The Hoops have scored a remarkable ten goals in their last two home games. Even Aberdeen, who currently have the best defensive record in the league, could struggle to contain them.
Excluding Tuesday’s match Celtic have had some stand out performers. Griffiths, Rogic, Sinclair, Brown, Toure, Forrest and Tierney have been the best of them. That’s the guts of a full team and a decent spine to build on.
With Roberts, Sviatchenko and others coming back from injury it will only improve. Who now joins the Rodgers Revolution is especially relevant. There is thirty million burning a hole in somebody’s pocket and Brendan Rodgers will have his eye on it.
Celtic v Aberdeen Betting Tips And Predictions – Best Betting Odds
On the handicap markets Celtic -1 Asian Handicap looks a tad too short to consider at 1.79 (11/14) with McBookie.
Both teams to score won’t tempt many at 1.76 (13/17) with 188Bet. There is also little value to be had for +2.5 goals at a best price of 1.61 (11/18) with Betbright.
While Celtic look good for a win the European hangover leaves enough questions to be wary. But given Aberdeen’s lack of cutting edge so far this season a Celtic Win To Nil is tempting at 2.75 (7/4) with McBookie.
That may seem slightly ridiculous given Celtic’s defensive issues for the past few years. But it may the best bit of value available.
