Brechin City v Peterhead Betting Tips And Predictions
Location: Glebe Park
Date: 24th September 2016
The turnaround at Brechin City is nothing short of remarkable.
At the turn of March last year even the most optimistic fans had them consigned to relegation. You have to give them credit for sticking with Darren Dodds because he has turned it right around.
A 4-0 win over Forfar was the start of a winning run that guaranteed their League One status. Seven wins in their next nine games followed and they have kept that run going.
Particularly at home where they have lost just two of their last fifteen league games. Eight of the last nine have been home wins with only a 0-0 draw with Queens Park blemishing their record.
In the middle of April last season I previewed this very fixture and advised backing Brechin at a massive price of 4.1 (31/10). They duly obliged with a 5-1 hammering of The Blue Toon.
The reason was Peterhead losing in the Challenge Cup Final. I figured their season was likely to peter out. I called it right as they went on to lose all of their remaining five games. But even I didn’t see that poor form continuing into this season.
Peterhead are second only to Stenhousemuir in the battle to avoid the drop. They have won just one of their nine league matches since that Hampden Park final. It’s even worse on the road where they have picked up a solitary point in six matches.
That came last week away to Stennie when they blew a 0-2 lead with just twenty minutes remaining. It all points to something being rotten at Balmoor and whatever that is they are struggling to eradicate it completely.
Meanwhile Brechin City have re-signed Alan Trouten and he has scored three goals in four league matches. Some players belong at some clubs and he must belong at Glebe Park.

There appears to be value in Brechin however you have to respect Peterhead. Backing Brechin with Draw No Bet insurance is available at 1.8 (4/5) with bet365. There would be no harm in being a little cautious in my opinion (insert a ‘hedge your bets’ joke here).
Goals are likely but Both Teams To Score is incredibly short at 1.53 (8/15) with Ladbrokes. The price for +2.5 goals isn’t much better at 1.6 (3/4) with Marathon Bet.
When goalscorer markets open have a look for Alan Trouten and Ally Love who could represent a little value for those looking for a higher price.
