Arbroath v East Stirling Betting Preview
Ladbrokes Scottish League 2
Location: Gayfield Park
Date: 23rd February 2016
The Shire are battling for more than the fate of Middle Earth with their League 2 status very much on the line.
They have a lot Mordor to do (last LOTR pun. Promise.) although they have started to make a bit of a fist of it. The four points they have picked up in their last three games was more than they managed in their previous seven. The biggest surprise of all is that they picked up all four away from home.
Before trouncing Queens Park at Hampden two weeks ago East Stirling hadn’t won away from home for nigh on a year. They had picked up one point away from home all season before their last two when they suddenly picked up four while scoring five goals.
In fairness things had been picking up and the eagle eyed may have seen it coming seeing as they have now scored eleven goals in their last five away matches. Before Queens Park they had been letting even more in with thirteen conceded in the four previous away games.
If The Lichties lose to The Shire the gap between them will close to five points and the bottom side have a game in hand. That would open up the threat of relegation for Arbroath which would be disastrous considering this time last year they had real designs on promotion.
As it stands they are not out of the running for the playoffs with a win lifting them to within four points of fourth place Annan. But you have to be beating the likes of East Stirlingshire and realistically you should be beating them comfortably.
In truth I would struggle to place a lot of faith in Arbroath at the minute but one thing that does look incredibly likely is goals.
Arbroath v East Stirling Betting Preview Betting Odds
The home side are strong favourites at 1.65 (13/20) with Marathon Bet and that’s a price that may drop a little more come kick off. East Stirlingshire are as high as 5.5 (9/2) with William Hill while the draw is 4.6 (18/5) with Marathon Bet.
The price of 1.7 (7/10) from bet365 for +2.5 total goals looks very generous given East Stirlingshire’s penchant for goals. All but four of their twenty-six games this season have seen three or more goals. Sixteen of them have seen +3.5 total goals for those who like the price of 2.62 (13/8) for that bet from Paddy Power.
