Morton have had a tough old run of it but got back on track with a 1-4 win at the weekend.
Before that they had succumbed to defeat in four of their last five games with only a 0-1 win at Livingston to show for their efforts. There was also the abandoned match at Alloa, which this is the rescheduled fixture for, where they were trailing 1-0 with half an hour to play.
All but one of those six matches were low scoring, the exception being the 1-2 home defeat to Raith Rovers, decided by a 90th minute penalty. Despite the 1-4 cup win at League 2 Annan on Saturday all indications are that Tuesday night’s game will follow the same low scoring pattern.
Alloa have been involved in plenty of low scoring fixtures of their own. All but one of their last six games have seen less then three goals with four of them decided by the single goal. That seemed to be the way the abandoned match was heading too before the snow became too much to bare.
Alloa have looked a little steadier since Jack Ross took over as manager in December. They have still struggled to score with just two goals in his five games in charge but only St Mirren have scored more than once against them.
In fact, they have only conceded more than two goals at home on two occasions all season. Rangers took a 1-5 victory back up the road and Livingston somehow managed a 0-3 win in September. Since then they have remained obstinately difficult to beat. Even Falkirk and Hibs have managed no more than 0-1 victories at The Indodrill Stadium.
With The Ton scoring more than twice on the road in the league this season on just one occasion, anyone thinking of going mad on the handicaps really ought to think again.

Morton are favourites and shortening at a best 1.75 (3/4) from Ladbrokes, bet365, McBookie and Betfair. That’s too short for my liking and there could be a small hint of value in Alloa at 4.5 (7/2) with bet365. The draw is best priced at 3/1 with McBookie.
For me backing unders seems hard to ignore considering the stats. Eight of Alloa’s eleven home games have seen less than three goals and Morton have managed to score just once in one and a half attempts here.
