Aberdeen v Kilmarnock Betting Preview
Date: 12th March 2016
Aberdeen were pushing against a door closing on their title ambitions on Tuesday evening.
Two goals in quick succession reignited them and brought them the three points that closes the gap on Celtic to just one. It was the kind of win that champions manage and if they are to live up to that mantle they should be seeing off Kilmarnock comfortably on Saturday.
Kilmarnock’s late managerial change has failed to lift their spirits so far. In his three games in charge Lee Clarke is yet to see his team score a goal. You have to wonder if the Killie power brokers are regretting the change or at least regretting not giving Lee McCulloch a shot at the reins.
It’s looking increasingly likely that relegation will be between Killie, Hamilton Accies and Dundee Utd. Despite being eight points clear of Utd it still looks as though Kilmarnock could be the most likely of the three.
After this game they host Celtic before a difficult trip away to Partick Thistle. There is every chance they will pick up no points in the three games and Utd might have already overtaken them by the time they host St Johnstone in April.
A win for Kilmarnock on Saturday is certainly out of the question with Aberdeen losing just once here in nineteen games. Even picking up a point would require them to raise their game well beyond anything they have managed for some time.
They have won just once now in eight matches while above them Accies are picking up the odd point here and there. Below them Dundee Utd are on a real charge having won four from six.
For The Dons the return of Johnny Hayes is a real boost and Simon Church has made Adam Rooney’s absence virtually unnoticed. The Welsh international has scored four times in his six appearances picking up important winners in the last two.
Aberdeen v Kilmarnock Betting Preview Betting Odds
Despite my lack of confidence in Kilmarnock I still think Aberdeen are very short at 1.4 (2/5) with McBookie. Kilmarnock are still unbackable at a best price of 9.9 (89/10) with Marathon Bet while the draw is 4/1 with bet365 and McBookie.
Aberdeen haven’t been keeping many clean sheets at home so both teams to score has a chance at 2.3 (13/10) with 888Sport. It has much more appeal than the 1.82 (9/11) from Marathon Bet for +2.5 total goals.
The bet to stand out for me in reviewing this match is a long term punt on Kilmarnock to finish bottom of the table. You can get 5.5 (9/2) from bet365 for that to happen and with the difficult run of fixtures and the rot that could set in if they lose five in a row it is certainly in with a chance.
