If I chose a game to be televised this weekend it would be Aberdeen v Hearts.
But The Dons and The Jambos served up some terrific fayre for the cameras last season. Their head to heads were always enthralling if occasionally stodgy encounters. In particular the 1-0 cup win for Hearts which was lacking in goals was full of action and drama.
Hearts have won the last three including the last one at Pittodrie. Although that was at the end of the season with the league lost and second place wrapped up. Aberdeen should be on the ball this time around and are facing Hearts at a good time.
The Jam Tarts have drawn one and lost three of their last four games. They were all by the odd goal but conceding seven goals in three games is cause for concern. Some fans bemoaned a lack of fight in the team following their 3-2 League Cup defeat to St Johnstone.
Meanwhile Derek McInnes has been bulking his side up. Anthony O Conner and Jaydon Stockley have brought extra strength and height to the side. They have also added pace and invention through Wes Burns and Miles Storey.
While their new signings are yet to settle in and fully demonstrate their value The Dons look to have strengthened this season. Hearts, on the other hand, look to have stood still for the time being. Sammon and Watt may yet come good up front but they have had to rely on defenders and midfielders for goals so far.
Aberdeen v Hearts Predictions And Tips – Best Betting Odds
Aberdeen are odds against favourites at 2.1 (11/10) with William Hill. Hearts are available at a best price of 3.8 (14/5) with McBookie and Ladbrokes. McBookie and bet365 are best price for the draw at 3.6 (13/5).
Both teams to score has a chance but I would be more inclined to back both teams to score NO at 2.1 (11/10) with McBookie and Paddy Power. Unders also look better than +2.5 goals at 1.92 (11/12) with Marathon Bet.
While a draw has potential the most likely outcome looks to be a narrow home win. Aberdeen to win by a one goal margin pays out at 3.8 (14/5) with Stanjames. But it’s unlikely to be by anything other than a 1-0 or 2-1 scoreline.
Hence you can back Aberdeen to win 1-0 at 8.5 (15/2) and 2-1 at 9.5 (17/2) with McBookie for a split stake. That should provide much better returns long term.
