Title dreams have no room for slip ups at home to Hamilton Accies lest they become title nightmares.
Martin Canning’s visitors have won just three of their last twenty-three games and are unlikely to cause an upset at Pittodrie. Not when Aberdeen have lost just once here all season and have a big prize still to play for.
Closing the gap to Celtic back to four points while increasing the gap to Hearts in third to twelve points will be vital. Both sides have a game in hand of The Dons so they need to keep winning to keep the pressure on.
The international break may have come at a good time for them having lost to Motherwell last time out. They only just squeezed past Killie, Thistle and Dundee Utd in their previous three games so a rest looks like it was welcome.
It was welcome for some but there were plenty of players involved at international level. Johnny Hayes and Kenny McLean both made their international debuts for Ireland and Scotland respectively. Niall McGinn played for Northern Ireland and Simon Church scored the equaliser for Wales against them.
A measure of Aberdeen’s continuous improvement is in so many of their players getting international recognition. It’s a big step up from facing Hamilton Academical of a Sunday afternoon and that extra class should tell, comfortably.
That being said, The Dons have never been the type of side to steamroller teams so while they should win with some to spare they are a difficult side to back on the handicaps. The next few weeks will see a boost in the squad with Adam Rooney and Peter Pawlett set to return but not for at least the next two games.
Aberdeen v Hamilton Betting Preview Betting Odds
Aberdeen are firm favourites and could make good acca fodder at 1.53 (8/15) with McBookie. Hamilton Accies are as high as 7/1 with Paddy Power while the draw is best priced with Marathon Bet at 4.5 (7/2).
Both teams to score has potential at an odds against price of 2.12 (28/25) with Marathon Bet but with Hamilton drawing a blank here in the last five head to heads it’s not I bet I would favour. The same applies for +2.5 goals with unders much more likely at even money with bet365.
The best way to maximise that potential could be to back Aberdeen to win in the correct score markets. Aberdeen to win 1-0 at 6/1 with William Hill and McBookie alongside a 2-0 win at 7.5 (13/2) with McBookie for a split stake could be a profitable strategy.
