If recent events are anything to go by then The Dons v The Dee promises to be a Friday night fire cracker.
The entertainment being provided by televised Scottish games for the last few months has been exceptional. It flies in the face of all the doom laden predictions and protestations from many sources but chiefly from the games administrators (but that’s for another article).
Most recently Aberdeen took part in a five goal thriller that had everything you could want from a game on the telly. Penalties (awarded and not awarded), red card, end to end action, goals, thrills, spills and a frantic last ten minutes.
Before that Dundee were involved in the Dundee Derby and it followed a similar path. It too had it’s fair share of thrills with Dundee coming from behind to win by the odd goal in three.
Goals have been Dundee’s party piece of late with twenty-four goals in their last five games. On Saturday they were 0-3 up away to Partick Thistle after just fifteen minutes. Early goals are trending, too, with a goal within the first fifteen minutes in each of their last seven games.
Aberdeen aren’t quite on the same spectrum with the first goal in their games scored, on average, well past the half-hour mark. But on Sunday at Ross County they came flying out of the traps and it was remarkable that neither side managed to score before twenty-seven minutes.
They could be expected to take a similar approach with the chance to apply some pressure on Celtic by closing the gap to just three points before they play on Saturday. With Dundee currently exhibiting some strong counter attacking credentials an early goal, or two, wouldn’t be too surprising.
Aberdeen v Dundee Betting Preview Betting Odds
Aberdeen are strong favourites at 1.55 (11/20) with Boylesports and William Hill. That price seems reasonable after they exhibited a lot of the bottle that many commentators accused them of lacking on Sunday. Dundee are best priced at 6/1 with McBookie and bet365 while the draw is available to back at 4.4 (17/5) with McBookie.
Goals certainly look to be the best option again here and backing both teams to score returns at 1.98 (49/50) with McBookie. That price looks to be laden with value considering both teams have scored in all but three of Dundee’s last fifteen games.
For there to be more than two goals in the game pays a little less at 1.91 (10/11) with William Hill. I would certainly be much more inclined to back both teams to score given Dundee’s goal scoring exploits of late. You can get 2.38 (11/8) on both teams to score & +2.5 goals with William Hill.
Both teams to score in the first half looks very tempting at a high of 5.5 (9/2) with bet365 and Skybet but if you want a small stakes punt at a long shot you could try Dundee to be leading after fifteen minutes at 10/1 with William Hill. Alternatively a Dundee goal in the first fifteen minutes pays 7/1 with the same firm.
William Hill also offer 3.25 (9/4) on either side scoring in the first fifteen minutes and that could be a better option.
